Gregory BYERS

Willits, CA, USA, 1998
Western Red Cedar Soundboard, Indian Rosewood Back and Sides
Ebony fretboard with 650 mm string length
$ 6000 SOLD

This excellent Gregory Byers instrument is in good condition with the usual playing wear, a few light nail marks and some finish thinning. The guitar has had one previous owner.

Built in Byers' traditional manner with seven-fan bracing and oblique treble bar, the neck joint is dovetailed as with bowed-string instruments. The soundboard is bent down so the fingerboard is raised above it for easier access to the high frets. The tuning machines are by Irving Sloan.

The tone is very powerful with great bass amplitude and shimmering clear trebles. The balance between lows and highs is very good. The overall sonic impression is as rich as it gets with multitudes of nuances.
