ABOUT FRENCH GUITARS

With the celebrated makers of France known around the world, like Robert Bouchet and Daniel Friederich, a long and rich tradition of guitar making has gone on virtually ignored by American guitarists up until now. That vital tradition is available to American players today. Names like Delarue, Audirac, Raifort, Castelluccia, Quinson, Sardin, Lesueur, Mercier, Bedikian and Perrin are becoming more and more recognized as among the greatest luthiers of our time.

When you realize that the Spanish virtuoso guitarist and composer Fernando Sor himself bought his concert guitar in 1800 from Parisian luthier Rene Lacote, you must acknowledge the long and great tradition of French guitar making. I present these French instruments today in the certainty that they deserve a place of high esteem in the American guitar world.
