Madrid, Spain, 2011 Cedar Soundboard, Madagascar Back and Sides Ebony fretboard with 650 string length SOLD
This is the top model from the José Ramirez workshop with no-holds-barred on quality of woods or decorative imagination. It is poetically called "El Centenario" and it does have a hundred year heritage of the finest guitar making. A truly stately instrument that feels at once like an exceptional example of the luthier's art. The magical name of Jose Ramirez was made famous world-wide years ago by Andre Segovia who played several during his long career on concert stages around the world.
This is a statement of the philosophy of the Ramirez family from Jose's daughter.
"Jose Ramirez guitars are constructed from aged woods of the finest quality. Great care has been taken to use no wood before its time. Woods that are characteristic of generations past: Honduras Cedar, Cameroon Ebony, German Spruce, Cypress, Indian Rosewood, Jacaranda, and Red Cedar which was first used by my father, Jose Ramirez III when he discovered its immediate sonorous qualities. I personally supervise the construction process from start to finish, and all of the guitars must receive my final approval to indicate they are of the highest quality. My desire is to practice the time honored tradition of my fathers and build the very best guitar possible."
Amalia Ramirez.
