Lessons

The Classical Guitar Store offers lessons in all styles of guitar playing. With a staff of seven teachers we provide expert instruction in classical, folk, blues, rock and jazz playing styles. Each member of our staff is a professional performer of the style he or she teaches and has had long teaching experience.
Paul M. Eaton is leader of the rock band PhunkyMan who can be seen in clubs and concert stages worldwide. An accomplished live and studio musician, Paul can be heard on many recorded releses from his band and an extended list of others (see his site for details www.phunkyman.com). Paul has a degree from Hartt School of Music and sits on the Board of directors for the Philadelphia Boys Choir and Chorale, as well as being a soloist.
Jarek Paul Ervin is a multi-instrumentalist specializing in classical and electric guitar. He has performed extensively in solo and ensemble settings from theater to radio. A past winner of the Philadelphia Classical Guitar society's Collegiate Competition, Jarek holds bachelor's and master's degrees in music from Temple University. He teaches classical, folk, jazz and popular styles on guitar, as well as banjo, mandolin and lute.
Dan Hanrahan has a degree in Jazz Performance from Temple Univeristy. Since graduating in 2009, he has been performing regularly as a leader and a sideman at venues such as Chris' Jazz Cafe, The Deer Head Inn, and many others. Dan has worked extensively with many musicians from Philadelphia's jazz scene, and has performed with Terell Stafford and Tim Warfield. In addition to performing, Dan teaches guitar to students of all ages.
William Newman has a guitar performance degree from Temple University. He performs as a soloist and in a variety of ensembles, including the Mascaro-Newman Flute and Guitar Duo, the Penn-Newman Guitar Duo, Network For New Music and the Newman-Ghezzi Duo. In addition, he has performed with the Opera Company of Philadelphia at the Academy of Music and in Verizon Hall at the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia. Mr. Newman has worked to expand the guitar chamber music repertoire and has published transcriptions for flute and guitar by Mozart, Schumann, Dvorak and Villa-Lobos.
John Penn is a well-known Philadelphia performer of both classical and flamenco guitar. He holds a B.A. degree in music from Rutgers University and studied classical guitar for many years with William Viola.
Ryan Procini has experience in classical, jazz, and rock styles. He is currently completing his degree in classical guitar performance at Temple University, where he is studying with Allen Krantz. Ryan has also studied jazz guitar with Tom Giacabetti. He is a member of the rock band Super Consumers, with whom he performs around the Philadelphia and New York areas.
