Spruce Tension Hygrometer $ 29.95 This is a handmade hygrometer by luthier David J. Pace. It is made from soundboard wood to provide representation of the effects of relative humidity on guitar plates and is designed to give you clear indication for when to use a humidifier.
How it works: The Spruce Tension Hygrometer is simply a stick of longitudinal wood grain laminated to a stick of transverse wood grain. When the relative humidity fluctuates, the transverse side will either shrink or swell against the longitudinal side, and a bow in the stick will result, providing an amplified representation of tension that may be forming in your guitar.
